Mykonos Travel Guide

What to do when you Visit Mykonos; getting there, getting around, when to go, what to budget, and what to skip. It is organized to be consulted rather than read through: use the subpages for the specific information you need.

The Basics

Mykonos is a small island — 86 square kilometers, population approximately 10,000 year-round — in the central Cyclades, 150 kilometers from Athens by sea and 45 minutes by air. It has one town of any size (Chora), one inland village (Ano Mera), and about 25 coastal settlements ranging from substantial bays to a handful of buildings at a beach access point. Getting around requires either a rental vehicle or a combination of buses and taxis. The island’s road network is adequate; many of the most interesting places are at the end of unpaved roads.
